Adam G. Jacobs

Dr. Adam G. Jacobs (registered Independent) is a 19 year resident of the Village of Chagrin Falls.

Adam obtained his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and then earned a Doctoral degree in Psychology from the Wright Institute at Berkeley, California.

After earning his Master's Degree, Adam moved to Southeastern Ohio. While there he helped to start a mental health service agency for children in this Appalachian region of Ohio. It was during this time that he met his wife of nearly 30 years, Melissa Siegrist Jacobs, of Coshocton.

Adam did his internship, his post doctoral residency and subsequently worked at multiple community based non-profits in California. During this time he delivered mental health services; conducted research; and worked with the Alameda Naval Air Station – helping the Pentagon develop a range of human services for military personnel and their dependents. He also helped to start both state and national child, youth and family advocacy associations and served as the CEO of a community non-profit agency.

In 1990, he joined the 141-year old child service organization Bellefaire as its Clinical Director, and in 1995 became the CEO. Since 1995 Bellefaire has grown from an $8 million dollar child service agency located in Shaker Heights, to a $30 million dollar organization annually serving 12,000 children and families across Ohio, also operating the nationally renowned Monarch School for Autism.

In 2000, Adam started the Wingspan Care Group, an administrative service and management company. Under his leadership as president of Wingspan, this company has grown into a $50 million dollar enterprise responsible for roughly 1,200 employees and according to a recent economic impact study, annually contributing over $80 million dollars to Ohio's economy.

In 2004, Adam co-founded Monarch Teaching Technologies, a technology firm producing web-based educational curriculum. He currently services as chairman of the board of this tech firm.

Adam's background as a psychologist plus success growing and operating behavioral health care and educational organizations has resulted in Adam working closely with both state and national elected officials on both sides of the aisle. He has been appointed to a number of gubernatorial commissions; provided testimony to the legislature; and helped to draft legislation at both the state and national level.

Adam's son, Sam, graduated Chagrin Falls HS in 2002 and his daughter, Hannah, is a 2005 graduate of Chagrin Falls HS. His wife, Melissa, is the owner of A Velvet Hammer located on Pine Street in Chagrin Falls. Adam and Melissa live with their two malamutes at 69 Carriage Stone Drive, Chagrin Falls.
